Skills and expertise

Claire is now in her third season in the ecology sector. In the last three years she has gained experience in a variety of different survey work including for reptiles, bats, dormice, great crested newts (GCN), badger, otter and water voles.

Specialist interest

Protected species surveying (hoping to specialise in birds one day).


Career summary

After finishing her degree Claire worked for 3 years as an aviculturist at Slimbridge (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust). She worked on the Great Crane Project which involved rearing crane chicks prior to their release in Somerset. Following the end of this project she decided to re-train in the ecology sector and in 2015 she started sub-contracting as an assistant ecologist.
