After 250 particularly wet and windy miles, Rachel has made it to Paris as part of Le COP Crusade!
Along with the other participants, who have cycled all the way from Bristol, Rachel will today present Bristol’s Mayor, George Ferguson, with our city’s Manifesto for Change.
Why is the Manifesto so important? One of the key components of any agreement made at COP21 in Paris over the next 10 days is encouraging increased effort outside the UN process to reduce emissions. This is being done by engaging “non-state actors” such as cities, local governments and businesses to do more. The Bristol Manifesto will therefore be taken by the Mayor to the political leaders attending COP21 to demonstrate the commitment made by Europe’s Green Capital 2015 to tackle climate change.
Next steps…please help Re-Cycle (Bikes for Africa)
Now that Rachel has put so much of her own energy, determination and good northern grit into raising awareness of Bristol’s ambitions to address climate change, we would like to ask our colleagues, friends and clients to help. If you would like to sponsor her efforts by making a donation to our selected climate conscious charity; Re-Cycle (Bikes for Africa), please visit Rachel’s JustGiving page here.
The charity ships unwanted bicycles to Africa, providing a means of environmentally friendly transport which allows improved access to water, health care, education and employment. Thank you for your support.
