We’re excited to be involved in the Evenlode Landscape Recovery Project, an ambitious farmer and landowner-led initiative working to restore natural habitats, improve ecosystem resilience, and support sustainable farming methods across the Cotswolds. The project forms part of a wider effort to create healthier habitats which enhance water quality and help to build landscape that benefits both people and wildlife.
Our ecology team recently completed Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) baseline assessments across four land parcels within the project area. Establishing a clear and robust baseline is a vital first step, helping us understand the existing ecological value of these sites and identify opportunities for long-term enhancement.
Now the baseline work is complete, we are exploring a range of measures to support nature recovery, including habitat creation and enhancement, land management techniques, and opportunities to strengthen green corridors and ecological connectivity across the landscape.
Alongside this, we’ll be developing management plans with the landowners themselves to guide the ongoing habitat maintenance and monitoring, ensuring that biodiversity improvements can be sustained well into the future.
Projects like Evenlode Landscape Recovery demonstrate how farming and nature led initiatives can work hand in hand. We see this as a genuine win-win for both farmers and wildlife, helping to deliver lasting environmental benefits while supporting resilient rural businesses.
We’re looking forward to contributing to this exciting project and playing our part in helping nature thrive across the Cotswolds.
