David has worked in the public and private sectors for over 20 years.  He has an extensive list of project types he has been involved in including housing developments, wind farms, solar farms, new roads and junctions, coal mine mitigation monitoring, European undersea power cable connection, motorway vegetation monitoring and international work.  He specialises in bird and botanical surveys as well as having a wealth of knowledge in many other protected species along with invertebrates.  David is also well versed in project management and various report writing including PEA, EcIA as well as species specific reports and mitigation.

Career summary

Started working volunteering with the Somerset Environmental Records Centre, before joining English Nature. He then went onto working for small ecological consultancies, before joining a large American based multinational engineering and environmental consultancy in 2009.  David then set out as a freelance ecologist prior to joining The Landmark Practice in 2026.

Set up a gardening business with two friends.

Bringing in random samples of grass from lots of different habitats to show the team!

Loves

Passionate about wildlife photography, birdwatching, botanising, all animals really and discovering new wildlife experiences.  He particularly enjoys travelling worldwide to pursue these interests, having visited thirty-six countries so far, as well as having lived on three of the six continents he as visited.
