Skills and expertise

Ben has experience working as an ecologist working both in the private and public sector since 2011. After initially specialising in ornithology, Ben has developed into a generalist and has experience undertaking a wide range of protected species surveys. As a Principal Ecologist, Ben has project managed a wide variety of projects across The Landmark Practice’s portfolio, delivering Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessment, Habitat Regulations Assessment and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans. He holds protected species licences for great crested newts and bats.

Career summary

On completing his masters Ben worked as a volunteer warden with the RSPB before gaining a position as a graduate ornithologist at an Ecological Consultancy in the North East of England in 2014.

Ben moved to the south-west in 2020 to take an Ecologist position at Network Rail, before joining The Landmark Practice in 2022.

BSc (Hons) Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour (Durham University).

MRes Ecology and Environmental Management (University of York)

Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (ACIEEM)
