We are celebrating a well-deserved victory for the Seabank Community Wind Turbine at the 2025 Regen Green Energy Awards last night.
The Scheme was Highly Commended in the ‘Community Led Placemaking’ Planning Award in 2021, and was shortlisted for the Landscape Institute’s Excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure Award in 2022. This time, nominated under the Clean Energy Project Award, Ambition Community Energy / Ambition Lawrence Weston scooped the award, fighting off tough competition from other groundbreaking schemes.
At 150m, the Ambition Community Energy wind turbine is England’s largest, generating enough electricity to power 3,000 homes and saving over 1,600 tonnes of CO2 yearly. Profits support the Lawrence Weston community, funding skills training and fuel poverty initiatives.
The project has influenced policy discussion and developed a replicable finance model for community wind projects that Landmark is continuing to assist in bringing forward.
Biodiversity enhancements, extensive local engagement and partnerships ensure long-term community benefits.
The award Judges described this landmark project as “a shining example of community leadership, delivering lasting benefits and empowering local people through renewable energy“.
