The British Standards Institution (BSI) has released a revised draft of BS 5837 for public consultation. This draft will be open for comments for two months, closing on 15th October 2024.
The revisions primarily address overlaps between BS 5837 and BS 8545, identified because BS 8545: Trees from Nursery to Independence in the Landscape was being developed concurrently with the publication of BS 5837 in 2012. To eliminate redundancy, tree planting design information has been removed from BS 8545 and incorporated into BS 5837. A revised draft of BS 8545 will also be released soon for public consultation.
In addition to addressing these overlaps, the revised draft includes minor tweaks and changes. This consultation also presents a valuable opportunity to consider and incorporate any other suggested amendments.
