The Seabank Community Wind Scheme was a finalist in the Community Led Placemaking Award in the Planning Awards 2021.
Whilst we firmly believe that this scheme should be a winner (we may be a little biassed), we are pleased to see that it received a High Commendation in this award category. So congratulations to Ambition Lawrence Weston/Ambition Community Energy and Womble Bond Dickinson.
The new generation 4.2 megawatt onshore wind turbine, at 150m, is believed to be the tallest onshore wind turbine consented in England. This community renewables project is expected to generate electricity to power between 3000-4000 homes a year and save over two tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. Profits from energy savings will fund the delivery of the development plan for the community of Lawrence Weston and there will be an on-site Energy Learning Zone for schools and communities.
Womble Bond Dickinson were involved throughout, initially advising Ambition Community Energy on a pro-bono basis before guiding the planning strategy to a successful conclusion in August 2020. Landmark has proudly provided ecology, landscape and EIA support since 2017.
“We received invaluable support to gain planning permission for our community renewables project. Gemma’s team provided EIA, ecology and landscape services, were always available when needed and provided clear and practical advice every step of the way.”
