The Landmark team has been pleased and privileged to be joined over recent weeks by George, a student of MSc Environmental Management at the University of the West of England.  George joined us for a consultancy placement and was a real boon to our workplace, keen to not only deliver his coursework to a high standard, but also provide valuable support to our team.  We highly recommend such placements which give valuable insight to those that are seeking to join the industry and demonstrate to prospective employers such as us, an interest and in and understanding of what we do. This is what George thought of his time with us at The Landmark Practice:

‘As a part-time master’s student at the University of the West of England, my work-based learning module afforded me the opportunity to pursue my ecological interests in the working-world. By joining The Landmark Practice on a 6-week placement, I got to carry out my own project on bat call analysis, build real-life field survey experience, and learn how GIS mapping is used for planning biodiversity net gain. All invaluable experiences I will take on to my next year of study.

Being in the office at the height of survey season showed me just how busy the life of ecological consultants can be, yet it was still a lovely place to work. Being surrounded by welcoming and knowledgeable people meant I was learning new things with every conversation I had, and frequent canine visitors were another big highlight. My experience at TLP has cemented my goal of working in ecology, and I look forward to getting stuck in once I’ve completed my degree.’

We wish George the best of luck in completing his Masters, not that we think he’ll need it!
