A Warm Welcome to Elliot Veale!

We are thrilled to announce that we have a new team member in our Landscape Team.   And who better to introduce him than the man himself; a few words from Elliot below ….

“I am excited to be joining a smaller and more environmentally focused practice where I can progress my career as a Landscape Architect. Having previously worked for a large multi-disciplinary architecture company, feeling a part of a close knit, enthusiastic team was what instantly drew me to The Landmark Practice. Being able to have influence over and responsibility for projects from inception to completion is the reason I got into the profession and what I feel Landmark can give me.

We are thrilled to announce that the Oakfield residential development in Swindon has just achieved Building with Nature ‘Design’ award accreditation.

The Oakfield project is Nationwide’s first residential development, with a focus on a community led design approach. The Landmark Practice was appointed to provide landscape architectural and Building with Nature assessor services in early 2020 as part of the principal contractor’s design team; and is taking the project through to completion on site.

Invasive Species Series: Giant Hogweed

Invasive Species Series: Giant Hogweed

The second in our invasive species series, we turn this month to Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum).

Listed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Ace 1981 (as amended), it is an offence to plant or cause to grow, or to allow this species to spread to the wild.

How to identify Giant Hogweed

Giant hogweed belongs to the umbellifer family and it’s not difficult to see that it is a close relative of the countryside favourite, cow parsley.

Wedmore planning consent

Wedmore planning consent

We’re pleased to announce that last week Sedgemoor District Council’s planning committee unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for residential development on the edge of Wedmore village.  This fantastic scheme will deliver 38 new homes and is an extension to Wedmore Grange which is currently under construction.

Key to the scheme has been the retention and enhancement of the existing orchard on the site.  This important landscape feature sits at the heart of the scheme and once restored, will provide an important community greenspace, a place for recreation and enhanced wildlife habitat.
